Question submitted:
If A-1's try is in flight and A-2 fouls B-2. A-1's shot is successful, does the basket count?

Rules Interpreter Response:
Once the ball is in flight on the try or tap, we allow the try to end regardless of which team fouls. If the foul by a member of team A fouls before the ball is in flight on the try/tap the ball is dead immediately.

Question submitted:
B1 fouls A1 who is in the act of shooting .The ball is still in A1’s hand. At approximately the same time, A2 fouls B2 in the lane near Team A’s basket.

Rules Interpreter Response:
Since the ball is in still in the hand of the shooter when the fouls occur, the ball is dead immediately. Both fouls are penalized, no free throws and play is resumed at the point of interruption. Team A is awarded the ball for a throw-in at the spot closest to where the ball was when the fouls occurred. (Rules 4.19.10; Rule 7.5.3b and Rule 4.36)

Question submitted:
B1 fouls A1 who is in the act of shooting. The ball is out of the hand. At approximately the same time, A2 Fouls B2 in the lane near Team A’s basket.

Rules Interpreter Response:
In this situation since the try is in flight when the fouls occur, the ball does not become dead until the try ends. If the try is successful the point of interruption is a throw-in for Team B with the privilege of using the endline. If the try is unsuccessful, the point of interruption would be a throw-in awarded to the team with the AP arrow nearest the spot where A1 had contact with the ball when the whistle sounded.
